SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.

PORT OF WESTPORT. HIGH WATER. This Day ... 1.44 a.m., 2.18 p.m. ARRIVALS. July 9—Nil. DEPARTURES. July 10—Murray s.a., Holmes, for Nelson. J. Kirby, agent. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Beautiful tftar, from Dunedin. Wallabi, from Manakau via VVanganui. Kennedy, from Hokitika. Waipnra, from Wellington. Nelson, from Nelson. Wellington, from Nelson. Charles Edwards, from Nelson. TESSELS IN PORT. Ketches—Enterprise (repairing) Young America, Alary, Constant. Cutter—Dart. Steamer—Lioness.

The weather has at length taken a turn for the better, and we may now hope to soon see some of the steamers that should have been here before this, if the weather had Permitted. The Kenni'dy should be in this morning, the Waip.ira is due, the Wallabi was expected nearly a week ago, and others may be looked for to-day or to-morrow The unfortunate Ada is now completely smashed up, the late bad weather having administered the coup de grace to her previously battered hull.

The p.s. Challenge, was expected some days ago for the purpose of towing in the Nightingale, and she may possibly come up to-day. At the same time it is hardly worth her while, for with the tides taking off it is doubtful whether the Nightingale would venture over the bar, but would rather wait another week for the springs. The barque Nightingale, as was expected, hid to put to sea on Wednesday night last, but showed up again last evening just before sundown, and would no doubt anchor last night in the roadstead. As we have said Is ewhere, it is not likely that she will be able to come up at once even if she gets the tug. for now is just about the lowest 'ide. This will of course depend on the water she is drawing. The Harbor-Master inform'; us that the average depth of water on this bar is about nine feet at neap, and fourteen feet at spring tides. The Government have purchased the ketch. Mary, fur a snag punt, mitt she is now- beiug fitted np for that purpose. Such a waft has been Liiij;' wanted, and will prove most serviceable-. The Mary is specially fiited for the work, as s e is flat-bottomed and strong built as well. Iti the hands of Captain Leech she will do good work, and there is ample employment already waiting for her in the river. It is reported that the schooner Amateur, is ashore on the north spit at Mokihinui, but we have no particulars to hand. As far as we can learn she is in no danger, and any goods •on board her are in safety. We shall be able to give some details on Monday. A steamer supposed to be the Wallabi, was off the port at 1 p.m.
