The Liverpool Albion of the 23rd March credits Victoria with a performance which it is not desirous of claiming. It says: —" An untoward episode of Prince Alfred's visit to Melbourne was a robbery of some jewelry belonging to him, the thief being the person appointed by the G-overnor to attend his Eoyal Highness temporarily as his valet." The Argus trusts its old and popular contemporary, on the banks of the Mersey, will take an early opportunity of informing its readers that the scene of the robbery was Adelaide, the capital of the neighbouring colony of South Australia. One of the results of the new law on the French Press will be the appearance of thirty-six new political papers in the province, and three or four in Paris.
