The following items of Sydney news ; are up to the 27th ult.:—The Government intend withdrawing State aid j from 36 denominational schools at the ! end of the year. —The Bank of New South Wales at Sofala has been robbed of £I7OO. Barnes and M'Grrath were hanged at Bathurst on the 25th. The fall was so great, that the convicts' necks were nearly torn from their bodies.—White gloves were presented to Judge Lutwyche at the Brisbane Assizes. —The G-ympie Creek diggings are slightly improving.—The shock of an earthquake was felt at Manaroo on May 17.—Flour at Adelaide was at £22 10s on the 27th ult. The Boston Transcript says, of ajlong list of thieves of New York city, lately published in one of the papers of that city, that " the incompleteness mav be guessed when we say that not one member of the city government is in it."
