Ketches —Mary, Young America, Sea Breeze, Constant. Schooners—Louisa, Ada (on the spit) Maid of Erin. Steamers —Murray, Challenge.

The p.s. Bruce did not. get away till j'esterday morning, and it is more tlmn probable that she will meet with severe weather before she readies port. A strong south-westerly breeze was blowing outside yesterday, and it is not impossible that on her arrival she will find the Hokitika bar unworkable. The schooner Mary, from Melbourne, was not in sight yesterday afternoon, Captain Gill probably finding it better to have some sea room in such weather. If the weather moderates, no doubt, she will turn up again to-day, and the Challenge is now ready to bring her in. The tug-boat Challenge, belonging to Spence Bros, came up yesterday from Hokitika, bringing in with her the Maid of Erin. She will remain to tow in the Mary, and will then bo despatched south again. That beautiful little clipper schooner, the Maid of Erin, arrived in the roadstead on Saturday last, after a good trip from Lyttelton, bringing a full cargo of flour for Spence Bros. She was towed up to the wharf last evening by the Challenge, and on being discharged will, wc believe, be despatched to Melbourne. The s.s. John Fenn was advertised to leave Kelson on Friday last, but the strong southwesterly winds and thick weather would no doubt prevent her leaving as announced. It is, however, probable that she will turn up to-day, if the weather turns out anything i.ke favorable. The s.s. Wallahi sailed from Nelson for Wanganui on the 27th, so may be hourly expected in this port. The s.s. Murray left Nelson at 11 a.m. on Thursday last, and arrived at Motuoka at 1 p.m. Here she took in a large quantity of produce, chiefly for the Grey and Hokitika, and stayed there till Friday at 3 p.m. Directly after starting almost she encountered a regular gale from the westward and was compelled to anchor under Separation Point that night. Left again at Saturday at 1 p.m. and had again to shelter at 4p.m. at Bush TCnrl, at fch« oxtromit-y of the Spit, a strong gale still blowing. Got away again at 9 p.m., encountering even then strong head winds and heavy sea. Arrived at the Buller at 5 p,m. last night, and came up at once to the wharf. She brought several carcases of mutton and some beef, which were landed at once. She will leave for the south again today, weather permitting. The s.s. Kennedy is undergoing repairs at Nelson, and will "not be at work again for some weeks in all probability. The p.s. Charles Edward, if the weather permits, should be showing up to-day from the south. She will bo despatched to Nelson immediate]}' on arrival. The s.s. Beautiful Star was advertised in the last Otago fdes to hand to sail, via Wanganui, for Westport and the other ports of the Coast, on the 27th ultimo, and may therefore be expected in a day or two. The clipper schooner, Crest of the Wave, was also loading at Dunedin for Westport, and would have early despatch.
