PORT OF WESTPORT. HIGH WATER. Tins Day ... 10.20 a.m., 10.3G p.m. ARRIVALS. May 22 —Nelson, p.s., Dillon, from Nelson. N. Edwards and Co., agents. John Penn, s.s., Carey, from Nelson. J. Kirwun, agent. Kennedy, s.s., Whitwell, from Grcymouth, N. Edwurds_and Co., agents. SAILED. May 22—Nelson, p.s., Dillon, for Greymouth and Ilokitika. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Northern Light, from Melbourne. Florcnee, from Melbourno. Mary, from Melbourne. Southland, from Dunedin. Murray, from Wanganui. VESSELS I3T PORT. Ketches—Mary, Young America, Sea Breeze, Constant. Schooner —Louisa. •Steamers —John Pent), Kennedy.

The s.s. Kennedy left this port on Tuesday night at 9 o'clock, and arrived at the Grey at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Started again for here at 10 a.m., and anchored off the bar at 5 p.m. Came up to the wharf at 8 o'clock last uight. She brings about 60 tons coals for Nelson, and six cabin passengers. The Waipara and Wallabi went into Greymouth on Thursday night, and the Bruce Went out for Ilokitika. The bar was reported workable on that (Thursday), the heavy rain having scoured a fresh channel, though we have no particulars to hand respecting it. Tho s.s. John Perm left Nelson at 5 p.m. on Thursday evening, and had a fine passage down though with rather a rough sea. She brings a large number of passengers, nearly thirty, and will leave again this morning. She has on board 24 head of cattle and general cargo. The p.s. Nelson arrived yesterday between 12 and 1 o'clock, after a pleasant passage. She called at Motueka on her way, and has made a good trip when that is taken into account. The good state of the Buller bar may be judged by the fact that she could come in with ease at half ebb-tide. When on her trip up it will bo remembered that a race took place between tho Nelson and the John Penn, and a good deal of interest attached to the contest. They left last Saturday at about 11 a.m. The John Penn arrived at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday and the Nelson at 11 a.m. on the same day, the former boat thus proving victorious by one hour and a half, instead of two and a half, as has been stated.
