SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.

I'ORT OF WESTPORT. HIUII WAT K It. This Day ... 8.58 a.m., 0.15 p.m. AttUIVALS. May 21—Nil. SAILED. May 2t—Bruce, p. 8., Korley, for Hokitika, Wallabi, s.s., Daniels, for Grryiuoulh. (J. Limbrick, agonfc. EXPECTED AiutiVAr.s. Northern Light, from Melbourne. FlorcncOj from Melbourne. Mary, from Molbourne. Southland, from Duncdin. Murray, from Wanganui. John 1 onn, from NelsonVESSEIiS IN POUT. Ketchos—Mary, Young America, Sea Breeze, Constant. Schooner—Louisa. Steamer—Waipara. The Wallabi, though intending to sail on Tuesday night, did not get off and did not go ■till last evening. She will only go as far as G-roymouth, after which she will call here on her return to Wanganui. The Waipara leaves to-day for Groyniouth and Hokitika, if possible, when, she expects full instructions to proceed at once to the south. Her contract is to call at the various southern ports once every two months. Such an arrangement is as beneficial to the miners, as it is creditable to the County Council of Westland, with whom the idea originated and by whom the subsidy is paid. Once assured of regular communication, though at long intervals, much more vigorous prospecting will ho carried on to the southward, and wc hope with success. The accounts of the Hokitika bar are more and more deplorable, and though the Bruce is going to make a desperate etf'ort to get in, it is doubtful in the extreme whether she will succeed. It is stated on what appears to be reliable authority, that the channel a few days ago was little more than eighteen inches deep at low water. Whether the rains that have fallen to-day will burst out a new course or deepen the old one remains to be seen. Our old friend the p.s.-Southland has delayed her departure from Dunedin, but the " Daily Times," of the 13th inst., has a notice. that she would sail for West port direct at two o'clock on that day, and passengers were warned to be on board by that tame. If she started to time wc may expect to sec her any hour, even if she made a call or two instead of coming straight away.
