Steamer—Lioness. IMPORTS. Per s.s. Per s.s. Waipara, from Ilokitika—Original cargo shipped for Brighton and Charleston; 2 parcels, Longbottom. PASSENGER LIST. Per 'Murray, from Nelson—Messrs Freeman, Rigbye, Sowory, Bailey, Eeid, Lusk, Misses Freeman, King, and Jones, in the cabin ; and one in the steerage.

The s.s. Murray left Nelson at 9 p.m. on Monday evening, and encountered strong Lead winds from Wanganui down to the Buller ; crossed the Buller bar at 8 a.m. yesterday, and came up to the wharf. She left last evening for the Grey at nine o'clock. The p.s. Charles Edward sailed yesterday morning for Pox's with cattle and sheep belonging lo Mr Frecth, but on getting fairly outside it was found hopeless to risk a landing, and the vessel accordingly returned to port and landed her stock on the South Spit. .Last evening she sailed for Nelson. The s.s. Waipara left Hokitika on Tuesday evening for Pox's and this port, but on reaching the former place found it utterly impossible to land her cargo and came on here. She was to leave last night for the Patoa, for which place she has been chartered to convey a porl ion of the armed constabulary recently doing duty at Hokitika. She reports having encountered a very heavy sea all the trip, and has had to land her original cargo, shipped at Nelson for Fox's, here.
