The already established favorite boat John Perm arrived yesterday morning with a- large number of passengers. She left Hokitika at G p.m. on Sunday, and under half speed throughout the trip reached the Buller at 7.30 a.m., and came up to the wharf at once. She left again for Nelson last evening at 7 o'clock •with a large number of passengers who, no doubt, were glad to avail themselves of an excursion trip at the reduced fares. It will bo seen by advertisement that the John Penn is to leave here on Monday next, and we learn from good authority that she will arrive in
_ The p.s. Bruce arrived in the Buller las night, but the news brought by her is unim portrait.
We are sorry to say that the Nightingale still remains in the roadstead, and only the spring tides iij;.., e:.lly will release her from her bar-bound quarantine. The tug-steamer Lioness went out yesterday morning for the purpose of sounding the channel, with the view, if possible, of towing the barque in, but after a careful survey it was deemed too hazardous to attempt. We only hope that the watery fates may soon he favorable, and that the owners of such a fine vessel may not be put to further loss through detention at this port.
