THE NEW POSTAGE RATES.

I. —Town Lbttes. Posted at any Post-office within the colony from delivery at or from such Post-office— Not exceeding half-an-ounce ... Onepennv. Exceeding half-an-ounce but not exceeding ohe ounce ... Twopence For every ounce or fraction of an ounce over one ounce Twopence. For every ounce fraction of an sunce over one ounce Twopence. ll.—Country Letters. Posted at any Post-office within the colony for delivery at or from any other Post-office within the same province— Not exceeding half-an-ounce ... Twopence. Exceeding half-an-ounee but not exceeding one ounce Fourpenee. For every ounce or fraction of an ounce over one ounce ... Fourpenee. Hl.—Lnterprovixcial Letters. Posted at any Post-office within the colony for delivery at or from any Post-office in anv other province within the olony Exceeding half-an-ounce but not exceeding one ounce ... ... Sixpence. bor every ounce or fraction of an ounoe over one ounce ... .. SixpenceNEWSPAPERS. For places within the colonv, the Australian Colonies, and the United Kingdom, via Suez and Southampton, are chargeable with a rate or one penny. Newspapers for the United Kingdom, via Panama or Suez, one penny; and Marseilles, threepence each. In consequenco of newspapers bein<r frequently posted in packages of more than one number, the same are detained at the Chief Poat-office, and attention is called to the following postal regulation : " Newspapers for transmission within the colony shall bn posted in single numbers, so put up that the date of publication may be readily seen. Packages of newspapers consisting of more than one number shall be treated as bookpackages.
