PST OFFICE SAVINGS' BANKS.
The New Zealand Gazette, of Marcli 25th, publishes the following regulations for the banks as above newly established at Christchurch, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa, Hokitika, Greymouth, Waimate, Westpork and Charleston. 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given on sums less than £2OO ; at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on| sum* over £SOO ; and in the same proportion for any shorter time on every complete £1 deposited, provided that no interest be allowed on more than £SOO. 2. Depositors in the Post Office Savings Banks have direct Government Security foi the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of the Post Office Banks can continue his deposits at any other of such Banks, and can withdraw his money at that Post Office Bank which is most convenient to him. 4. The strictest secresy is observed with respect to the names of depositors in Post Office Banks, and the amounts of their depossits. 6. Money may be deposited by or on behalf of minors. Depositors over seven years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits until they have reached the age of seven. 7. Applications to the Chief Office in each Province on X\c business of Post Office Savings Banks, and the replies sent thereto, are free fron. c.mrge or postage.
