STEERING AND SAILING RULES.
To prevent as far as possible collisions at sea, and to put masters of vessels in mind of " the rules of the road," the following aids to memory have been published by the AssistantSecretary to the Board of Trade, London: — TWO STEAMSHIPS MEETING-. Meeting steamers, do not dread When you see three lights ahead — Port your helm and show your red. TWO STEAMSHIPS PASSING. Green to Green, or Red to Red— Perfect safety—Go ahead ! TWO STEAMSHIPS CROSSING. Tf to your starboard Red appear, It is your duty to keep clear; To act as judgment says is propor— To port, or starboard —back, or stop hor ; But when upon your port is soen A steamer's stai'board light of Green, There's not so much for you to do. The Green light must keep clear of you.
