ARRIVAL OF THE RANGITOTO AT THE BLUFF.
NQN-AJEffiIVAL OF THE ENGLISH M A. I L. THE DUKE OP EDINBURGH SHOT IN THE BACK, BUT NOT KILLED. Bt. Electric Telegrape. (from our own correspondent.) [The following was issued as a West Coast Times Extraordinary last evening : —] "West Coast Times Ofpice, Monday, 5.30 p.m. Lyttleton Times published following Extra to-day. The Duke of Edinburgh shot but not killed. " Lyttleton Times" Ofßcc, 1.35 p.m. The Bangitoto has arrived at the Bluff, the report brought by the John Penn to Nelson is substantially correct. His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh was shot at and wounded in the back by a Fenian at the Sailors' Home pic-nic. The ball has since been extracted, and he is now doing well. O'Farrell, brother to a solicitor, who absconded from Melbourne about five years ago, is the name of the assassin. A gentleman, whose name we have not ascertained, and was beside the Prince at the time the shot was fired, is seriously wounded. The telegraph is working badly, and full particulars are not to hand.
