The Westport Times AND CHARLESTON ARGUS. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 1868.

The "Westport Times axd the Fenian Dejioxstion.—A miserable attempt was made by our evening contemporary to connect this journal, by inserting the name of a gentleman connected with our staff, among the leaders of the Fenian demonstration. In accordance with our usual custom wo detailed a gentleman, connected with our staff, to take a report of the proceedings, who ascended the platform for that purpose, the gentleman who represented our evening contemporary prcferringto remainintho crowd rather than venture to ascend the platform for the purpose of fulfilling his duty, and thereby took advantage of his position to assail this journal. We are not ashamed of our position, as more courteous treatment we never met from any body of men, but we think that it is a most paltry attempt to throw aside the amenities of journalism, and endeavor to connect us with any movement—political or otherwise—that we might feel it our duty to attend. St. Patrick's NraiiT isr Westport. —Last night the rain which had threatened during the day, turned to a steady downpour, and the town after the animated appearance it presented in the morning, was the personification of dulness, if wo except the few houses where Balls in honor of St. Patrick, were being carried on. At Ilo.st Trimble's, the assemblage was largo end varied, and dancing was thoroughly appreciated by those present, the ladies were numerous, and

the supper good, so that the whole " wont merry;as a marriage bell." At Hamilton's Appollo Music Hall, the attendance was good, and the merry strainsof musicand rejoicing resounded through the room up to an early hour. The supper served upstairs was duly appreciated, and .the ball was a decided success. Benefit of Titos. Peel.—To-night wo bog to remind our readers is the last appearance of the above talented dancer, and of his compeer Denny Cogldan as tho entertainment is for the benefit of Peel, who has so ably catered for the public amusement, we hope to see a bumper house.
