The Escort cleared at Customs yesterday, and the agents named should be Messrs P. F. Sraythe and Co.. instead of Spence Brothers as stated in yesterday's issue. The p.s. Bruce, Captain Kerley, left Hokitika at half-past two o'clock yesterday afternoon, arrived at the Grey at half-past four o'clock, and left an hour afterwards. A-rived at Fox's at half-past eight, and having crossed the bar and landed passengers. &c-., arrived at Westport about half-past twelve oclock. having accomplished the voyage including two stoppages, in the short space often hours. Captain Kerley desires us to notice the attention of Mr Jacobson, the signalman, who, immediately the whistle was sounded, hoisted signals which enabled him to cross the bar The Murray was anchored outside when the Bruce came in, having passed the Grey when the Bruce entered that port.

WBECK OF AX ENGLISH SHIP. The Hawke's Bay Times, of Feb. 3rd, gives an account of the wreck of the English ship Echunga, on the Spit at Napier, during a ■violent gale. It says—"The drought, of which •we so long complained, gave place yesterday to rain, which increased.towards evening, and •was accompanied with a gale of wind from the north-west. A 6 the night wore on the storm became very heavy, and caused much anxiety for the safety of the good ship Echunga, then lying in the roadstead, and -nearly ready for her return trip to England with a very large cargo of wool, hides, &e., on board. At length the return of daylight, confirmed our fears by showing us that i-ho had actually gone on shore r>n the "Western Spit about four miles north- west of Napier, and the rollers breaking heavily over her. Several horsemen quickly left overland for the scone of the disaster ; and hiter four boats, well-manned, followed. 8 a.m. — All hands are saved. The men have jnst arrived on the Spit. They say the ship V'gan to drag'her anchor»at 3 a.m., and that 110 attempt was made to put to sea. Captain .Knight was not on board, having left Napier •ibv the interior on Baturday, 10 a.m.—Tho jiU-fited vessel i* now a •wreck- All three
