Daniells, left Wanganui at 8 p.m. on Saturday. She experienced light westerly winds through the Straits, turning to S.W. off Cape Farewell, and came over the bar at 7 a.m. yesterday. By Captain Daniells we have received Wanganui papers to Bth hist. The steamer Kennedy with 1599 ounces of gold for the Bank of New Zealand, and part of her original cargo, crossed the bar bound for Greymouth at 1 i a.m. yesterday. The steamer Murray also went out by the morning's tide, having cleared for the Southern Ports. The Waipara, s.s., cleared out of port at about 11 p.m. yesterday, bound for Charleston, Brighton, anil Ilokitika. The shipping- in port has been gradually diminished, and the Southland steamer is the vessel of any size now in port. The brig Susan having succeded in replacing her crew, was towed over the bar by the Southland yesterday at 11 a.m. bound for Newcastle. The steamer Wallaby, which was to have left last evening foi Greymouth, was presented by having grounded on a snag which made a whole through one of her plates. She was hauled on the beach below Stanley Wharf and part of her cargo of cattle put ashore. The repairs, which will soon be accomplished will, no doubt, soon render her again fit foe sea.

The Wreck oe theTransportßosphorus. —The statement to the eii'ect that the steam - transport Bosphurus had foundered in Algoa Bay has been fully confirmed, tmcl the hopes then entertained as to the safety of the crew have not been realised, as no less than fortyfive persons have perished with the vcssol. A. brief telegram from Galle, dated November l(>, merely states that when the Bosphorus was lost forty-five of those on board, were drowned, but that Captain Alexander was aved. The scene of the wreck of the Bosphorus was twenty-one miles from Port Elizabeth, which lies to the west of Algoa Bay,-and it is heseribed as the best sheltered anchoring ground on the coast for GOO miles from Cape Town. The ill-fatsd vessel was one of the fleet of steam-transports which were taken up at Liverpool for the Abyssinian transport, and j siiled from the Mersey for Uonibay, via the Cupo da Verdes and the Cape of Good Hope, on the IBlh September last. She was almost ojsw, having Loeu constructed of iron at

Glasgow iti 1864 She was a screw steamer of 2000 tons burden unci 550 horse-power, and was considered a remarkably fine vessel of her class.— South Australian Registet, January 21.
