The Panama, New Zealand, and Australian Eoyal Mail Company's Agency.—The neeessity of having a regular steam communication with the ocean steamers seems to have at last awakened the attention of the P.N.Z. and A.B.M. With this view the agency has been temporarily transferred from Messrs. F, Fisher and Co. to Messrs. Spence Brothers and Co. In accordance with this arrangement it will be seen by advertisement that the above company's boat Tararua, for Sydney, is expected to call at this port on or about the 10th inst., all information respecting which may be obtained of the newly appointed agents.

Tiie Maori Reserve.—One of ;the great drawbacks to the prosperity of this district, has been the high price of business sites, owing to the best of such being situated on the Maori reserve. This state of thing has been bad enough, but has been rendered still worse by each successive surveyor having altered the boundary pegs of the block, givinorise to innumerable sectional disputes. Several different claimants to the land have also granted leases of the same parcel of land to different lessees, and great confusion and unfairness has been the consequence. A case in illustration of the foregoing was heard before the Eesident-Magistrate yesterday, and reported in another column of this issue, and as the rights of the Maori to the land in dispute had to be referred to a higher tribunal, the roll of similar cases already ordered for hearing "in some future sittings of the Supreme Court, will be further augmented. Furniture Sale. —We be<* to' draw the attention of the public to the sale of Messrs Wittkowski's stock of Furniture which will take place at their store at 11 o'clock to day. Parties furnishing will find this an opportunity which will seldom occur.

The Apoeeo Music Haee and Oasesto. —The drama, as played at the Adelphi Theatre, is no more, and has given place to music and dancing. The proprietor, Mr Samuel Hamilton, has engaged the services of Johnny Lockyer and Johnny Burgess, as well as a splendid band. The hall itself has been re-decorated, and from the superior style of its fittings and the excellence of its amusements, bids fair to rank as one of the chief resorts of the lovers of music and dancing in this city.
