TO THE ELECTOES OP THE BULLETt DISTRICT. GENTLMEN, — I have been requested by a number of the inhabitants who have promised me their support to come forward as a candidate for the representation of this district in the Provincial Council, and therefore I have resolved to solicit your suffrages, more encouraged to this course through believing as I do that as yet no candidate likely to meet your approval has declared himself. All that I possess on the coast is centred in "Westport, and it is therefore clear that my interests must be identical with those of the residents on the Buller district, to represent which I now aspire. As to my capacity you are the best judges, and as to whether my opinions are such as to meet your views I cannot say, but this I can promise at all events if you honor me with your confidence, I will, to the best of my ability, discharge the duties of your representative honestly, faithfully, and independently. It is impossible to explain my ideas on the topics of the day in an advertisement, but I will meet the electors THIS (Monday) EVENING-, at Trimble's Nelson Hotel, when I will do so at length, and at the same time be happy to answer any questions that may be put to me. Gentlemen, I have the honor to be, Your obedient servant, THOMAS GOODWIN.
