WicsroßT Times Office, January 16. The Customs Eeverme received this day fcr import dnties was £32 5s sd. The Southland Times, of the 3rd ult., reports as follows of the Invercargili markets— Owing to the heavy anival» lately of tea and sugar direct fnm China and the Mauritius at Port Chalm rs, these staples rule rather 1 w in this m.uket. Money is easier, andean be readily obtained on go r )d securities. Auction sales durirg the month have not been of any great importance—in some cases to consignments. Jn the flour market a very perceptible and marked change lias occurred. Adelaide flour has risen rapidly .from £ls to £25, at which figure it is firmly held. The same rule applies to Provincial, which is quoted at £2O. The sudden rise may be attributed to the rust having destroyed a large portion of this 3'ear's crop at Adelaide, and al»o to the f;ict that on the news reaching here considerahle speculation resulted in the whole available stock being placed in the hands of a few. In breadstuff's generally an upward tendency is ob ;erv:. ble.
