Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day:— Barograph, 30.08; shade temperature, maximum 85.3, minimum 63.3; terrestrial, 57.7; sunshine, 7 hours 22 minutes. SOLWAY RAINFALL. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 8 days in January. The maximum fall was 214 points on the 24th, and the minimum 1 point on the 26th. The total for the month was 4.67 inches as against 4.37 (1937), 4.57 (1936), .75 (1935), 3.26 (1934), 1.05 (1933); average for 35 years, 2.66 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. The indications are for northerly moderate to strong winds. Expect dull weather with much mist and fog in parts. Intermittent rain probable but later indications for temporary improvement.
