PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING IN MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket Rooms yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs J. Caselberg, presided over a rather small attendance, many of the members being away from Masterton. The nurses’ report for the months of December and January was as follows, the figures for December being given in parentheses: —Visits to office, adults, 330 (395); babies, 310 (355); older children, 84 (62); telephone, 50 (136); totals, 774 (948). Visits to homes. New cases, 16 (24); old cases, lio (200); totals, 191 (224). New cases (town), 13 (12). Out-stations: Mauriceville West and Mauriceville East, 2 visits (2 visits); Hastwell and Kopuaranga, 2 visits (2 visits); Hiuraura, nil ■(1 visit). New cases, 2 (2); visits to new cases, 5 (3); visits to old cases, 17 (19); totals, 22 (22). Holmwoocl, Whareanm, Tinui, Annadale, Blairlogic and Taueru, 1 visit (2 visits); new eases, 2 (2); visits to new cases, 3 (1); visits to old cases, 17 (17); totals, 20 visits (20 visits). Pre-natal section, 12 (12). A letter was received from the secretary of the Masterton A. and P. Association enclosing tickets for the Masterton Show. It was decided that the Rest Tent be again made available to mothers and their babies on Show Day. The Plunket nurses and some members of the committee will be in attendance.

It was decided to obtain for the Rooms a photograph of the late Miss Patrick, former Director of Plunket Nursing and to invite contributions towards a fund to erect a memorial to the late Miss Pattriclc. The treasurer presented accounts amounting to £sl/4/4, which were passed.

The president reported that an application to the T. G, McCarthy Trust for funds for the Masterton branch was being prepared by Mr A. O. Jones, the lion, auditor. Reference was made to the public meeting to be held to-night in the Lecture Room, Municipal Buildings, when Professor A. G. Strong and Dr. E. Gregor will deal with nutrition and problemse of diet. Parents were advised to attend the meeting. •
