W.C.T.U.
MASTERTON BRANCH. At the W.C.T.U. meeting in Knox Hall, Mrs Speight presided over a good attendance of members. The devotional period was led by Mrs Jansen, after which afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Morice and Speight. It was decided to hold special prayer meetings each month, when an invitation would be extended to all interested to attend. Arrangements for a shop day to be held in the near future were discussed, the date to be decided on at the March meeting. The Temperance fact, a statement made by Dr. Wilfrid Grenfell, was supplied by Mrs Speight, as follows: "It is just the damage that liquor does to the most important cell elements in the human body that makes it impossible for a surgeon to do his work. From any point of view, alcohol is unnecessary and inadvisable.”
At the close of a meeting recently, Mrs Miller, in an appropriate speech, presented Mrs Speight Avith a handsome floor rug together Avith the best Avishes for her future happiness. Mrs Speight suitably responded.
