MEETING OF DIRECTORS The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. was held last evening, Mr C. E. Jones presiding. The financial statements for December and January were adopted, the former showing a deficit of £ls/11/9, and the latter a surplus of £2l 15/2. The General Secretary spoke with appreciation of the help given by many people during the Boys’ Camp, and they were accorded a vote of thanks. Permission was granted for the affixing of the seal to the contract for the building improvement scheme and the alterations which are well under way.

It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the association on Tuesday, 29th March, at 7.30 p.m. The meeting is to be a business one, to which ladies are to be invited. The annual convention of the New Zealand Y.M.C.A. is, to be held in Wellington on 9tli March and 10th March, and it was suggested that Messrs Peacock and Clarke act as delegates. A ’ vote of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr John Hunter, of Wellington, who was at one time president of the Masterton Association.

The report on the junior department stated that the boys’ groups continued to meet in December while the schools were in session. The Primary School group finished the year with a games and supper night, which 29 attended. Early in this month a cycle trip was made to the Kororau Power Station, 18 boys making the trip. Six temporary gardening jobs were filled in December and one boy was placed on a farm. In the physical department a small group of seniors, who 'were keen, met on five nights for practice. One girls’ class was held. Interest was taken and time given to •teaching boys to swim during the Week. Quite good results were obtained. A fairly successful sale of work was held by the Ladies’ Auxiliary in the early part of December and child welfare work has been carried on with as usual. An extended repodfcvas given of the annual camp at which was attended by 50 boys :yid proved most successful and enjofSme.
