WEDDINGS
SPICER—HENSON. The wedding took place at St. Matthews’ Church, Masterton, on 27th December, 1937, of Miss Ysabel Beatrice Ada Henson, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr A. Henson, Masterton, and Mr Edwin Mansell Spicer, youngest son of Mr and Mrs E. Spicer, Masterton. The Rev. E. J. Rich performed the ceremony, and Mr Miliar-Hope presided at the organ. The bride wore a frock of white satin, over which was worn an embroidered tulle veil held in place with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of sweet peas, carnations and maiden-hair fern. She was escorted by her brother (Mr F. Henson). The bridesmaid, Miss Iris Spicer (bridegroom’s sister) was dressed in blue and white figured organdi, with head band of blue velvet flowers and wore silver shoes. She carried a blue shower bouquet. Little Phyliis Ewington (bride’s niece) was flower-girl and was dressed in a long lemon organdi frock, ■with lemon hat and blue shoes. She carried a basket of flowers. Mr Don Vibert carried out the duties of best man.
On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe and the bridegroom with a black cat by Lesley and Joseph Ewington’. A reception was held at the Cosy Tearooms where the bride’s mother, assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, received the guests. Mr and Mrs E. M. Spicer left later for the south, the bride wearing a tweed costume, with hat, shoes and accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Masterton. HASELL—ROSE. A pretty wedding was celebrated on Saturday at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, when Jean Kathleen, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr A. M. Rose, Upper Plain, Masterton, was married to Eric George, youngest son of Mr and Mrs G. H. Ilasell, St. Albans, Christchurch. The Rev. E. J. Rich officiated.
The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr C. A. Goldsmith, wore a slim-fitting gown of magnolia lace over satin with long train. Her tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of gold leaves, and she carried a sheath of deep cream roses and gladioli. Her bridesmaid Avas Miss Margaret Caverhill, Avho wore a frock of hydrangea blue georgette, and carried a sheath of blue hydrangeas and pink gladioli. Mr Robinson, of Wellington, attended the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony a reception Avas held at the Empire Hotel, Avhere the bride’s mother received the guests.
Later Mr and Mrs Hasell le ftfor the south, the bride' wearing a pale blue frock Avith short navy coat and navy accessories.
