WOMAN LIBERATED
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE. PARIS, Monday. Mile. Schmeder Chappelut, who was charged with attempting to murder Pierre Lallemant, was liberated amid cheers following Lallemaut%. counsel withdrawing the charges and appealing for an acquittal. Madame Chappelut was ordered to pay £27 toward the costs of the action.
A cable published oil 21st December, 1936, stated that an aeroplane landed in a field near Trappes, in France, but took off again as passing motorists found the pilot with a bullet wound in his neck. It was stated that a woman passenger, as a result of a love quarrel, shot him in the back. Both had quitted the machine on landing, but the woman reentered and flew off. A later message stated that their names were Pierre Lallemant and Mile. Schmeder Chappelut, joint owners of the aeroplane. Mile. Chappelut later crashed in Surrey, and was arrested, on instructions from the French authorities, on a charge of attempted murder.
