FORESTERS’ LODGE
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting was held in the Foresters’ Hall last night, when there was a large attendance of members, presided over by C.R. Bro. G. H. Bell. Bro. T. N. N. Coley reported on having visited the sick, avlio were progress-ing-favourably. - - The secretary reported that two members had declared on the sick fund. Correspondence was received from the District Executive, stating that Bro. Thomas Bedding has been elected district secretary in place of the late Bro. A. W. O. Travers.
Bro. Bell reported that he had obtained permission from Mr J. H. Payton for the use of his property to hold the annual picnic, which would be held on 6tli February. Bro. Davie reported on the interLodge card tournament, stating that Court Kopuaranga was successful in retaining the shield. Bro. Davies also reported that the Friendly Societies’ card tournament would be held on Bth January in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Masterton, and that, the combined picnic would be held at the Solway showgrounds on 20 th February. Bro. Walker reported that a good attendance was being maintained at the Saturday night card tournaments. Bro. Leigh reported that the Christmas Tree Committee had now complet: cd the arrangements for the function, which is to be held in the Arcade Hall on the 18th, at 2.30 p.m. It was decided that the next meeting being quarter night, a social evening be held at the close of the meeting, and that a full attendance of members is requested. Sick pay and accounts amounting to' £3O were passed for payment. NOMINATION OF OFFICERS. The following members Avere nominated for the various offices of the Lodge for the ensuing six months: —C.R., Bro. R. L. Crocker; S.C.R., Bro. T. N. N. Coley; Treasurer, Bro. G. G. Jackson; Secretary, Bro. G. L. Scrivener; S.W., Bro. C. A. Leigh; J.W., Bro. H. C, SteA\ r art; 5.8., Bro. R. Walker; J. 8., Bro. S. V. Sharman. The installation Avill take place on Monday, 20th December. At the conclusion of the business, an impromptu, debate Avas held, the subject being: “Are People Happier To-day than Fifty Years Ago.”
