OBITUARY

ME, ROBERT 'E. HORNBLOW. The death occurred unexpectedly at Palmerston North about 9.30 o’clock this morning of a well-known former resident of the Wairarapa in the person of Mr Robert Edward Hornblow, J.P., of Dargaville. Deceased was born in Wellington in 1861, being a son of Mr C. W. Hornblow, of Greytown. He was educated at Greytown. He was subsequently employed on the staffs of the “Greytown Standard,” “New Zealand Times,” “Wairarapa Star” and “Wairarapa Daily Times.” In 1891 he was in business in Masterton as a printer, selling out in 1894. Later he was engaged in business in Masterton; as an auctioneer and land agent. He was formerly a member of the Masterton Borough Council, the Trust Lands Trust, Masterton School Committee and the A. and P. Association. Many years ago he left for the north, being engaged in farming at Dargaville, and later being proprietor of the local paper. The late Mr Hornblow was Mayor of Dargaville for six years. He unsuccessfully contested the Masterton, Rangitikei and North Auckland Parliamentary seats. Mr Walter Hornblow, of Eketaliuna, is a son, while a number of relatives live in Masterton, to whom deep sympathy will be extended in their bereavement. The late Mr Hornblow was on a visit to Masterton a few days ago. MR. ROBERT BROWN FAIR. The many friends of Mr R. B. Fair, of Cornwall Street* will learn with deep regret of his death, which occurred at Glenwood Hospital last night, after a short illness.. Mr Fair was a skilled fitter and had been in the employ of the Shell Company in Masterton for the past 9 years. Deceased was born in Leith fifty-two years ago, and learnt his trade there, afterwards' going to Clydesside and ten years ago came out to New Zealand. Mr Fair saw active service, during the South African war, as a member of the Scottish Cycle Corps. He was unmarried and his nearest surviving relatives are a sister, Miss M. Fair, of Masterton, and four brothers, of 'whom two reside in Wellington, one in Scotland, and the other in Canada.

The funeral Avill leave Mr G. Hyde’s Mortuary Chapel, Church Street, at 10.30 o’clock to-morroAV morning, for the Masterton Cemetery.
