FACED WITH FAILURE. RAIN URGENTLY NEEDED. SYDNEY, Wednesday. According . to Press reports, New South Wales is facing the prospect-of •wholesale crop failures, unless rain falls within a week. The Director of Agriculture, Mr A. H. McDonald, declares that a critical position is fast approaching over the wheat areas. Serious deterioration has already set in owing to the dry, hot weather and the last month’s frosts. The position two months ago by contrast was extremely promising.
