FALL OF EARTH
MAN FATALLY INJURED. NELSON, Thursday. As a result of injuries received when buried by a fall of earth during roadbuilding operations in the Cobb Valley, Allan Ross, a single man, aged 30, died on Wednesday afternoon. At about 4 p.m. a charge brought down a quantity, of debris. While the roadway was being cleared a slip occurred, Ross being buried. Workmen immediately dug him out. He was unconscious, and his legs and body were badly crushed. Dr. Bydder, of Takaka, was sent for. Ross was carried down the valley for two miles to Sams Creek, but he died before the doctor arrived. His relatives live in England.—(P.A.)
