SUPERANNUATION.
If the Government is able to put into operation a workable superannuation scheme to cover every employed person m New Zealand, it will have accomplished something which should have been brought about many years ago, and which would have provided justice to those employees, whether on salary or wages, who are not in positions carrying with them superannuation at the end of many years of faithful service. A general superannuation scheme would gradually do away with the old age and other pensions. The Government has ' placed the old age pensions scheme on a more satisfactory basis, giving those who come within its scope some assistance in the evening of their lives. But with a superannuation scheme in operation covering old age pensioners, there should be available a sum of money ensuring people a reasonable amount of comfort in their old age, and to which they, themselves, in tlieir working days, had contributed bv way of superannuation payment.
