MARTINBOROUGH SALE.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: —We offered a good yarding of 979 hoggets at our Martinborough sale yesterday. There was a good 1 attendance, buyers being present from the Manawatu and Eketakuna districts, and competition was keen throughout. One particularly nice pen of well grown woolly wether hoggets realised 27s 4d, and two pens of woolly ewe hoggets were keenly sought after, being eventually knocked down at 345. A total clearance was effected under the hammer at the following prices:— Sheep: Woolly wether hoggets, 24s 6d, 25s lOd, 26s 4d, 26s 5d to 27s 4d; fat b.f. hoggets, 25s 2d to 26s 3d; small wether hoggets, 21s 6d to 22s 3d; b.f. hoggets, to 24s 8d; woolly ewe hoggets 30s 8d to 345. Cattle: Fat cows, to £7 14s. .

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Martinborough sale, held yesterday, as follows:—A good yarding of stock came forward, and our entry, which comprised hoggets, met with a spirited sale from buyers from Feilding, Masterton, and the local district. Prices were in advance of recent sales ’ reports, and one nice line of w.f. ewe hoggets, offered on account of Mr G. Ellwood, made 345. We report a total clearance as follows:—Good woolly w.f.w. hoggets, 26s 3d; good woolly w.f. ewe hoggets, 345; medium do., 26s 7d.
