SAFE BLOWN OPEN

AUCKLAND BURGLARY. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Early this morning a railway employee noticed the office door of the coal depot of the Glen Afton Collieries, Limited, alongside the Mount Eden railway station, wide open. The police found that a large safe had been blown open with gelignite. A little over £5 in cash had been stolen. Just enough explosive had been used to break the locking mechanism without damaging the inside of the safe. (P.A.)
