TURF NOTES. Prostration has returned to the active list again after a spell, and is quite sound. Although Queen of Song’s; form at the Grand National meeting did not indicate winning possibilities in Australia, P. T. Hogan lias made arrangements to take the mare to Melbourne within the next two-or three weeks. Queen of Song is engaged in the principal Victorian handicap, events of the spring.

T. George has an addition to liis team, having brought back from the National meeting the four-yeai-old gelding Silver Fox, formerly trained by S. Barr at Riccarton. Silver Fox, who is a maiden, is a likely looking sort by Pink Coat from Saxetti, by Saxby from Pretty Lill, by Welbeck— Beauty Sleep, by Medallion—Siesta, by Traducer. Silver Fox raced in the Cashmere Plate, but did not show up.

J. M. Cameron had space booked for six horses for Australia on the Wanganella on Thursday, but lie has now reduced the team to three. One of the three will probably be the Paladin gelding Pladie.

The annual report of the Carterton Racing Club states:—“The profit and loss account shows a loss of £220, after providing for depreciation amounting to £209. During the' year improvements have been kept down to a minimum. The whole of the club’s appointments are in good order and repair. Your stewards record with deep regret the death during the year of Mr W. Cooper, a valued member for many years. Your stewards desire to thank the honorary officials for the manner, in which they carried out their duties at the last annual race meeting. All the honorary officials, with the exception of six ste.vards,. retire at this meeting, but are eligible for re-election. The retiring stewards are Messrs P. Bain, G. H. Eaton, A. C. Feast, C. Jensen, E. G. Kemble and G. A. Vincent.”
