GOVERNMENT’S B^LICY. CONGRATULATORY RESOLUTION. WELLINGTON, This Day. The executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce passed a resolution congratulating the Government on its determination to create without delay a fully effective defence system worthy of New Zealand, and undertaking to do all in its power to aid the Government in accelerating the defence system both in regard to acquiring the necessary material and in training the country’s manhood. This followed the adoption of a report by a sub-committee which examined the different methods of defence, and expressed the opinion that the main safeguard against possible aggressive action was the manhood of the provided it was organised and trainc% for defence, and assisted by air and itftval strength. The. committee also conaAred that, in view of the grave intentional situation of to-day, a thorough review of the present position should be made. —• (P.A.)
