WORKERS’ SETTLEMENT
AREA OFFERED TO GOVERNMENT It is reported that a property of OA-er 100 acres of land adjoining the borough of Masterton has been offered to the Government for cutting up into a Avorkers’ settlement. At the price at which it has been offered, it is stated, it Avould be possible to acquire an acre, after roading and other costs had been met, at about £6O or half-an-aere for £3O. Anyone Avisliing to secure a larger area of up to four or ftye acres, would probably be able to do so at much the same rate. If this property is acquired for cutting up, as proposed, it should provide Avorkers with an adopportunity of acquiring land Brit’ a reasonable price, and Avould, no doubt, be eagerly sought after. It is understood that, in the event otftthe Government declining to enteroffer, a syndicate may take the property over.
