FATAL ACCIDENT

COLLAPSE OP BRIDGE. TAUMARUNUI, Monday. A fatal accident occurred this afternoon at Howey’s Bridge, sixteen miles from Tauniaunui. A Maori, W. Houpapa, was driving a lorry laden with a bush log, and had a passenger with him named David Crosby. When the lorry was crossing Howey’s bridge it collapsed, and the lorry was precipitated into the creek. Crosby was killed outright, and Houpapa’s shoulders were badly crushed. He was admitted to the 'Taumarunui Hospital.—(P.A.)
