There Avas a large attendance of cricketers from all parts of the Wairarapa' at a social gathering held last night at which Mr K. G. Montgomery, who leaves next v r eek for Wellington, was farewelled. Reference was., made by several speakers to the prominent part Mr Montgomery had played in Wairarapa cricket over a period of years and regret Avas expressed at his departure from the district. On behalf of the Wairarapa Cricket Association, of AA-hich Mr Montgomery had been secretary for the past six years, the chairman, Mr H. B. Massey, presented him AA'ith a chiming clock, suitably inscribed. Mr Sortain Smith, president of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club, presented Mr Montgomery, on behalf of the club and Wairarapa cricketers, Avitli a suitably engraved silver cigarette case. Mr Montgomery has rendered valuable services to the club both as secretary and captain.
