CHRISTCHURCH HUNT RACES. MEETING ABANDONED. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Owing to the heavy fall of snow, the Christchurch Hunt races, which were to have been held to-day, have been abandoned. —(P.A.) TURF NOTES. This year the Wairarapa Trotting Club made a profit of £4B 17s sd, as against a loss of £62 Is 4d last year.
The Wairarapa Trotting Club has made application to the Trotting Conference’ for two days’ racing in March next.
The Limond-Royal Exchange gelding Royal Lineage, with whom H. Dulieu was associated in several of his hurdling successes, was destroyed recently after meeting with an accident. Royal Lineage, who was an elder full brother to Golden Gate and Royal Liinond, had a remarkably consistent record over hurdles. .
For the first time for many years, Auckland stables will not be represented in the Grand National Steeplechase, a race in which they have been successful on many occasions.
Punchestown is a douMful case. He is in easy work again, but his progress during tlie week, and lack of hard work, makesJiim a doubtful prospect for the National, while the likelihood of a soft track is also against him.
