The New South Wales racing season closed with the Victoria Park meeting. J. King, with 37 winners and a deadheat for first, was the leading followed by George Price with 25 winners and three dead-heats. A. Knox headed the jockeys’ list with 95 winners and three dead-heats, followed by M. McCarten with 85 winners and three dead-heats. F. W. Hoystead, with 25 winners, leads the Victorian trainers for the season, and 11. Skidmore, with 52 wins, heads the jockeys’ list. They occupied similar positions last year. K. Voitre rode 46 winners.

A Sydney cable states that the New Zealand horse Bengal Lancer has been sold to a Queenslander. It is understood that the price runs into four figures. He will be trained at Randwick by T. Murray.

F. D. Jones left Christchurch last night for Wellington en route to Sydney with Gustos, Cerne Abbas, Cyrillian and How Tow. During Jones’ absence J. Russell will look after the remainder of the team, which is comprised of the rising three-year-olds Coxcomb and a gelding by Shambles from Bray ton, and three rising two-year-olds by Gascony from Orozino, by Chief Ruler from Modiste, and by Paper Money from Egotism. These have been broken in and ridden, but none will race until October. Another of the same age by Siegfried from Polly P.eachum, has also been broken in, but is to be given the. run of the paddock until Jones’ return.
