COMMONWEALTH BANK

COMMUNITY INSTRUMENT. (Received Friday,. 9.55 a.m.) ADELAIDE, This Day. Addressing a conference of the Australian Labour Party on. banking and monetary reform, the Federal Labour Leader, Mr Curtin, contended that the Commonwealth Bank was a logical instrument to function for the community. The Labour Party, when it assumed office, would see that it did. “Capitalism,” Mr Cttrtin added, “restricted production in many directions, in order to perpetuate, itself. The Labour Party would concentrate on problems which capitalism could not solve.” Mr Curtin declared that the fundamental cure of unemployment was the planning of production and distribution, so as to eliminate booms, slumps and trade disorders.
