MISSING RABBITER
TTJAKAU MYSTERY. AUCKLAND, Friday. Fears are entertained for the safety of a rabbiter, Neil August Nelson, commonly known as Peter Nelson, who mysteriously disappeared from the T'M| kau district in March and has not heard of since. It was not' until A quantity of stores and a number of Tetters accumulated that settlers in the district had any inkling of his absence. One strange feature is that his pearifle is missing from his whare. It is the present belief of the Auckland police that not left the country, but strange elements in his sudden departure incline them to take a serious view of the circumstances. A broadcast description of Nelson is to be transmitted from the national stations in the course of the. next two days. At the time of his disappearance on or about 22nd March, he was working for Mr M. Ryan, a farmer, of Tuakau. Diligent enquiries have since been made by the police, but there is little evidence pointing to the cause of his suddenly leaving the neighbourhood. He generally left his mail at Mr Ryan’s homestead, but- when a month elapsed and he did not claim it, enquiries were made. It was discovered also that stores delivered at the whare at different periods within the month had not been claimed or used. —(P.A.)
