WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
HASTWELLS MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held last week. Mrs Dick presided over a good attendance. • The meeting was opened with the singing of the institute song, ‘ ‘ Ode to Friendship. ’’, Then followed the reading of the aspiration. . . The competition was for the best home-made butterscotch and was won by Miss Sigvertson, with Miss Fredrickson second and Mrs G. Halberg third. The junior class was won by Olga Halberg with Kathleen Larsen second. Mrs Nicholson and Miss Bliss kindly acted as judges. The game which was arranged by Mrs G. Halberg and Miss Olga Halberg resulted in Mrs F. Madsen being first Miss Bliss second and Mrs Sigvertson third. Miss Sigvertson and Miss E. Dick then demonstrated pine-needle work, all members being very interested. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs A. V. Madsen, Miss Hilda Madsen arid Miss Kathleen Larsen. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
