WAIRARAPA CLUB. REREATU WINS N.Z. ST. LEGER. Some excellent coursing rvas seen at the Wairarapa Club’s plumpton, Akura, yesterday afternoon, when two events, the New Zealand St. Leger _ Stakes and an open stakes Avere decided. The meeting Avas considered one of the* best' ever held by the club. There Avas a largo attendance of the public, Avho Avere treated to.a splendid afternoon’s sport. More than usual interest attached to the meeting, in vierv of a classic event, the Leger Stakes being allotted to it. The Avinner of this event, Rereatu, entered by Mr D. Grinvwood, Masterton, put up an exceptionally good performance, as this was the first time it had taken part in a contest and it is not yet in top form. The open event was won by Mr L. Fulton’s The Little Wonder, a consistent performer. j . -■ • Presenting a ribbon donated by the National Coursing Association and an : other given by the Wairarapa Club, to the Avinner of the St. Leger, Mr J. Bradbury (president) congratulated Mr Grifiiwood and said that the, club jlioped to run the Ncav Zealand Waterloo next year.
