SENDING HOME OF AMARNATH. REGARDED AS TRAGEDY. BOMBAY, Tuesday. Throughout India the sending home of Amarnath on the eve of the first Test is regarded as a tragedy. Public opinion is shocked that no attempt is being made to absolve Amarnath from blame. It is widely felt that the action might have been less drastic. The “Bombay Evening News” says that the removal will probably render the tour an even greater fiasco than hitherto. * ‘ACTION JUSTIFIED. ’ * t - LONDON, Tuesday. Lord Willingdon, ex-Viceroy of India, speaking at the Surrey Cricket Club’s dinner, said that the Indians supported the action taken against Amarnath. “I have been in the closest touch with everything going on during the Indians ’ tour, and would like to say, with a full knowledge of all the' circumstances, that the action taken was justified.” A The matter now rested with the Indian Board of Control to take what action it thought fit.
