THE CARNIVAL SPIRIT.
The Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society has set an example in the matter of achieving success with a carnival in aid. of funds which might well be copied' by other institutions. No undertaking can attain its object unless those associated with it devote their energies whole-heartedly to obtaining the highest results. There does not appear to be any reason why the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association should not conduct a jubilee carnival on a scale much bigger and more successful than the southern society. There is an opportunity next year of holding a carnival which will embrace more than one jubilee, and Masterton should make the occasion worthy of the chief town of the Wairarapa. It will be necessary to make the arrangements on a scale that will ensure the participation of the whole of the town and district .in the celebration, and from a combination of country and town members there should be provided a committee which will produce a success worthy of the occasion.
