Results: — MAIDEN HANDICAP. 1/1 Le Chasseur 1 6/6 Glenthawn 2 10/13 Solas 3 Scratched: Cyllaros, Gay, Athlone, Kurakaha. Won by 2 lengths, with the third horse a length away.. Time, 1.16. RACING CAREERS OVER. MELBOURNE, Thursday. Hall Mark, whose winnings amounted to over £28,000, has finished racing, and will go to the stud. In 50 starts Hall Mark was only nine times unplaced. Berestoi, who was imported from England a year ago, will not race again in Australia, and will commence stud duty next season. TURF NOTES. A London cable message states that interest in the Derby has been increased owing to Gordon Richards form. He rode ten winners in the last three days, including eight successively, also did the hat trick. The latest arrivals at Ellerslie for the Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting include Contact, Solaria and Pakanui, who arrived from Hawke’s Bay yesterday. Contact has four successive wins to his credit, and has a solid following for the Great Northern Hurdles as a result of his two wins at Hawera early in the month.
