MASTERTON CLUB. The Masterton Miniature Rifle Club fired its championship series on Saturday afternoon a.nd evening, 35 members taking part. Some good scores w. re - cgisu-red. Three matches aw re fir d, the ten highest scorers firing off to decide the club championship, which was Avon eventually by H. K. Smith," after some keen and close shooting. Toe B grade contest Avas Avon by D. P. Donald, and the junior championship by M.ss M. Long. Four possibles Avere made during the afternoon shooting—by 11. K. Smith, F. Gray, P. Russell and J. Whiteman.
Mrs King gained the ladies’ championship, Avith Miss Brader runner-up. Victory in the handicap championship Avent to J. Whiteman, Avitli a score, Avi’fi handicap, of 296.14 points. The runner-up Avas F. Gray, 295.68. A shoot-off between L. Rcnall and D. P. Donald Avas necessary to determine the B grade championship, Avhich Avas Avon by D. P. Donald. The junior grade Avas Avon by Miss M. Long. In a shoot-off for second place, R. Y. Mason beat F. Dick.

Highest aggregate in team shoots for season, Association. Cup rules: R. Wellington. At the conclusion of the shooting an excellent supper Avas enjoyed by all. The president of the club, Mr R. J. King, presented the various trophies Avon. Mr King congratulated members on the A 7 ery successful season experienced by the club, and expressed a hope, that it Avould go on to further successes in the future. Mr R. A. Copeland, of the Carterton Miniature Rifle Club, AA r as thanked foi the very fair and efficient manner in Avhich he acted as scrutineer. During the evening an opportunity was taken by members to present, the secretary (Mr G. H. Murdoch) a handsomely engraved fountain pen -in recognition of his work during the year. The club captain, Mr 11. K. Smith, made the presentation and Mr Murdoch suitably replied. The final Cvent of the evening was a burlesque presentation of prizes ably carried out by the lady members of the club. This caused much merriment and Avas a most enjoyable item in the evening’s entertainment. A most successful and enjoyable gathering ended Avith everyone looking, fonvard to next year’s championship meeting.
