VICE-REGAL TOUR
VISIT TO DANNEVTRKE. DANNEVIRKE, Friday. . Calling at Dannevirke on a viceRegal tour of Southern Hawke’s Bay, the Governor-General, Viscount Galway and Viscountess Galway were accorded a civic reception at the-Town Hall, which was used for the first! time since the earthquake 16 months ago. The building was crowded and there was a big overflow. The address of welcome on behalf ot the borough and Dannevirke County was read by the Mayor, Mr E. Gibbaid. Sir Alfred Ransom, Acting-Prime Minister and member for the district, supplemented the official welcome, referring to the changes in the district since the advent of the first Danish settlers some 70 years ago. Lady Ransom,-the Mayoress, members of the borough and county councils and their wives were on the platform. His Excellency conveyed the King’s interest in the Dominion and made graceful reference to Denmark’s close association with Britain through her connection with Britain’s Royal Family. The Dannevirke High School Cadets formed a guard of honour. —(P.A.) CALL AT WOODVILLE. PALMERSTON NORTH, Fridav.
