CYCLIST INJURED
KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR CAR. Knocked off bis bicycle by a motor car in Opaki Road early last evening, a voung man named Walter RidgAA r ay was subsequently admitted to the Masterton Hospital in a more or less serious condition. The accident occurred about 5.30 p.m., the car involved being driven by Wilfred Bland Gaskin, of Colombo Road. Both the motorist and tho cyclist Avere proceeding towards Masterton. Mr Gaskin, it is stated, did not see tho cyclist until he Avas right on top of him and lie did not have time to SAverve to aA*oid him or apply his brakes. He had just passed a car tra-A-elling in the opposite direction. The iniured man Avas able to Avalk to Mr Gaskin’s car Avith assistance and lie Avas conveyed to liis home in Hope Street. After being examined by Dr. J. A. Cowie, Mr RidgAvay Avas admitted to the Masterton Hospital. The hospital authorities state that the injured man was suffering badly from shock, AA-liile there Avas also a possibility of internal injuries. Mr RidgAvay is employed at Jenkins’s racing l stables. Opaki Road.
Enquiries made this afternoon elicited the fact that the condition of Mr RidgAvay had considerably improved.
