Vondersloot, The Terrace, Wellington, are on a visit to Masterton. A London cablegram reports the death of Mr R. H. Menzies, of Sydney, ex-captain of the Killara Golf Club. Mrs W. Telford, of Wellington, is staying with her sister, Mrs F. W. Pointon, of Essex Street, Masterton. The many friends of Mr W. Brady, Renall Street', will regret to learn of the death of his brother, which occurred last night as the result of a motor accident. Mr and Mrs F. Roberts and Miss Avis Petersen, of Essex Street, Masterton, left yesterday on a motor trip to Auckland. Mr W. Anscombe of the Eketahuna Post Office staff, has received notice of his transfer to the telegraph department in Pahiatua. The friends of Mrs C. R. Mabson, College Street, will regret to hear of the death of her father, York, which occurred at InvereargjjF on Tuesday evening after a short illness. The engagement is announced of Miss Noeline Walsh, elder daughter of Mr and'Mrs D. T. Walsh, Carterton, to Mr Donald Thompson, only son of the Rev. and Mrs A. T. Thompson, Melbourne. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Acting-Prime Minister, left Wellington on Thursday for his hoihe’&c Dannevirke, where he will spend the Easter vacation. He will return to Wellington on Tuesday. On Anzac Day Mr Ransom will attend services in his own district.

The wedding took place at Knox Church, Masterton, on Thursday evening of Miss Doris Phillpotts, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs G. S. Phillpotts, of Carterton, and Mr Frederick Bonde Knutson, elder son of the late Mr and Mrs Knutson, Carterton. At the annual meeting of the Featherston branch of the Farmers’ Union the following officers were elected: — Chairman, Mr E. E. O’Neale; vicechairman, Mr E. J- Nix; delegates to Provincial Executive, the chairman and Messrs J. Brophy and H. J. Hutchings; delegates to the Inter-Provincial Conference, Messrs Hutchings and Brophy.
