NAVY LEAGUE

MASTERTON AUXILIARY. ANNUAL MEETING. The seventeenth annual meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held in the A. and P. Rooms, Masterton, yesterday afternoon. There were present: —Mesdamcs R. E. Maunsell, H. McKenzie Dougla, E. G. Eton, J. V. Gordon, S. R. Gawitli, W. A. Michael, W. G. Lamb, R. C. Drummond, O. A. Bunny, T. Jordan, S. Fletcher and W. A. Todd, and the Misses Cameron, B. Vallance, Gray and A. Sellar (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdamcs A. W. Don, F. Whitton, J. Caselberg, D. M, Graham, and the Misses Vallanee, Daniell and J. McLaren. The report and balance sheet were adopted. It was decided to again work for the relief of distress in the district, and to ask each member of the Navy League to give one garment. It was also decided to write to headteachers of schools, suggesting that if they would care to allow school members to collect used magazines for the Mission to Seamen, the Masterton branch of the Navy League would be pleased to receive and forward them to Wellington. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to the president, and to Miss B. Yallance, who was acting-president during Mrs Maunsell’s illness; to the secretary, to Mr A. D. Low for auditing the books, to Mr J. V. Gordon for receiving subscriptions, to Mr R. H. Williams, and to the Press. After the meeting those present were the guests of Mrs Maunsell and Miss Vallance at afternoon tea.
